Privacy Policy for Quantext

Effective Date: 07.13.2025

Quantext ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how the Quantext Chrome Extension ("the Extension") collects, uses, and stores information when you use our service.

1. Information We Collect

Quantext is designed with privacy in mind. We collect only the minimum data necessary to provide our summarization service.

Specifically, we may collect:

  • User preferences (e.g., selected language, summary type)
  • A local history of recent summaries (stored locally in your browser)
  • OpenAI API key (stored locally and never sent to our servers)
  • Optional account authentication token (if you log in via our website)

We do NOT collect or store:

  • Your browsing history
  • Page content outside of the current tab when the extension is activated
  • Personally identifiable information unless explicitly provided during login

2. How Information Is Used

The data collected is used for the following purposes:

  • To generate summaries of web pages using Gemini AI
  • To remember your preferences between sessions
  • To improve user experience through local storage of recent activity
  • To authenticate your session (if login is required)

All processing of webpage content is done locally in your browser or securely via API calls to Gemini. We do not store or share the content of the pages you visit.

3. Local Storage and Permissions

Quantext uses Chrome's storage API to locally store user preferences and summary history. It uses the activeTab permission only when you manually activate the extension to summarize the content of the current page.

4. Authentication

If you log in through our website, basic authentication data may be used to link your session to your preferences. This data is used solely for functionality and is not sold or shared with third parties.

5. Third-Party Services

Quantext integrates with third-party services such as Gemini AI via API. These services are governed by their own privacy policies, and you are encouraged to review them separately.

6. Data Security

We prioritize the protection of your data and follow industry-standard practices to ensure your information remains private and secure. Sensitive keys like the Gemini API key are stored only locally on your browser.

7. Your Choices

You may:

  • Clear stored data at any time from your browser settings
  • Remove the extension if you no longer wish to use it
  • Contact us if you wish to delete any stored authentication data (if applicable)

8. Contact

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.

By using Quantext, you agree to the terms outlined in this Privacy Policy.
